For the first time since going public with his accusation that Michael Jackson sexually molested him as a child, choreographer Wade Robson gave an interview. He appeared on The Today Show, calling Jackson a “pedophile and a child sexual abuser.”
As Robson revealed in court documents, the 30-year-old told Matt Lauer this morning that Jackson “performed sexual acts on me and forced me to perform sexual acts on him” between the ages of 7 and 14.
Robson’s claims have come under scrutiny, especially since he testified in 2005 that Jackson did not abuse him. He also praised Jackson in 2009, when the singer died. So why is Robson coming forward now? He told Lauer, “This is not a case of repressed memory,” adding, “I have never forgotten one moment of what Michael did to me, but I was psychologically and emotionally completely unable and unwilling to understand that it was sexual abuse.”
He explained that there was no bribe money needed to get him to testify on Jackson’s behalf during the child abuse trial, which resulted in Jackson’s acquittal. “It was complete manipulation (by Jackson) and brainwashing,” Robson said. “He would role play and train me for these (trial) scenarios.”
Ever since Robson went public, the Jackson estate has slammed Robson and that continued today. Estate lawyer Howard Weitzman told NBC, “Mr. Robson has adamantly denied under oath and in numerous interviews over the past 20 years that Michael Jackson ever did anything inappropriate to him. He now wants us to believe that he committed perjury at least twice and has been lying to anyone and everyone about Mr. Jackson since the early ‘90s so he can file a claim for money. Mr. Robson’s transparent lawsuit comes nearly 4 years after Michael passed. His claim is outrageous and sad.”
