Disney World is investigating a scheme in which wealthy Manhattan mothers use handicapped guides to cut lines at the theme park. Meanwhile, the company accused of running the scheme, Dream Tours Florida, says that it considers the report that broke the story slander and is looking for a defamation lawyer.
A New York Post report on Wednesday drew attention from around the Internet and claimed that a group of wealthy 1 percenters were using a handicapped tour guide to take advantage of Disney’s policies so they didn’t have to wait around in the main lines for rides and attractions.
A day after the original report, Disney told the Post that they are investigating “the situation and will take appropriate steps to deter this type of activity.”
The Post’s story claimed that Dream Tours Florida was behind the scheme, offering prices lower than Disney’s own VIP Tour guides. According to WPTV, the company has since ceased VIP tours for the moment, because of “inaccurate press and slander.”
On their Facebook page, they wrote after the story broke, “We were advised by our attorney to make no statements at this time.”
In a new post yesterday, Dream Tours wrote, “We understand and validate everyone's concerns about these horrendous accusations. Please know that the story from The Post is completely false. We are currently finding a defamation lawyer.”
