Prince William will be making a trip to the White House to meet President Obama.
According to BBC News, the Duke of Cambridge is in the middle of a three-day trip to the United States and he will be going to Washington D.C. for the first time on Monday. The Duke will be preparing to give a speech at the World Bank on the topic of wildlife trafficking, which is illegal.
Previously, the Duke of Cambridge and his father, Prince Charles, visited London where there was an international conference focused on taking on the fight of this illegal trade. A royal correspondent for BBC, Nicholas Witchell, said there was “significance” when it came to the meeting since it would allow the President to see this as “a big priority” for the prince.
Us Weekly reported that a statement by the White House press secretary said, “President Obama will host Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, for a meeting in the Oval Office on Monday, December 8.”
The statement also discussed the President’s stance in welcoming the Prince’s efforts to fight illegal wildlife trafficking, citing it as both “a national security threat and a devastating environmental problem.”
Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton, who is pregnant with their second child, will stay in New York where she plans on visiting a child development center before going to the British Consulate General’s luncheon.
This will be the Prince’s second visit with President Obama, who traveled to London in 2011.
