Bette Midler releases 'Waterfalls' cover, and it's beautiful

Bette Midler has released her rendition of TLC's hit song, "Waterfalls," off of her soon to be released album, It's the Girls!, and it's a beautiful take on the iconic song.

Back in September, Billboard announced that Bette Midler would be releasing her first studio album since 2006. Midler also announced the news on her Twitter, saying, "Yours truly is announcing my first album in years honoring some of the great girl groups of all time!! #ItsTheGirls." She also gave fans a first look at the album's artwork.

The album will take listeners across seven decades of hits sung by women, including The Boswell Sisters from the 1930's, to one of the biggest girl groups in the '90s, TLC.

Midler's take on "Waterfalls" was released on October 23, and it soon became a big hit across the internet.

With "Waterfalls," Midler decided to slow down the tempo and has her voice accompanied by a piano and a soft hand drum. About the song, Midler told Billboard "'Waterfalls’ was a heartbreaker, especially if you were a mom, and it had a big effect on me. I never thought I would have the nerve to sing it, but we had an idea for it that works, and I am so glad I took the chance."

Midler's It's the Girls!, which is set to be released in the US on November 7 and in the UK on November 17, echoes Aretha Franklin's latest album release, Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics. Franklin's album was released on October 21 and, like It's the Girls! is an album of covers, with Franklin taking on many songs that she likes, including "No One" by Alicia Keys, and "At Last" by Etta James.

She released her incredible cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" on September 29.
