While there were seemingly a lot of hits with this year’s Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including making Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox the first openly transgender Emmy nominee, there were also some misses.
According to SFGate, among the more noteworthy Emmy snubs were CBS drama The Good Wife, Orphan Black and even ABC’s Scandal. Some of the stars and fans of the snubbed shows have reacted to not being nominated. According to Entertainment Wise, The Good Wife star, Christine Baranski felt “glad” that fans had an adverse reaction to The Good Wife not receiving an Emmy nomination saying, “If that's what happens where we get more attention for not getting a nomination and people are starting to say, ‘Hey, wait a minute, it's time to recognize this… if The Good Wife can't win after a season like that, there's got to be something a little off-kilter.’” Baranski also commented on the Emmy Awards’ voting process saying that maybe it needed to undergo a change.
Even though some TV shows didn’t get nominated there wasn’t all bad news for the stars. SFGate reports that Kerry Washington came away with a best actress nod, and Claire Danes, star of former Emmy favorite Homeland also received a nomination for best actress despite her show also being shut out of the Emmy nominations due to declining critical response. In another upset, Jay Leno did not receive an Emmy nod for his final season hosting his late night NBC show, however, his replacement, former Saturday Night Live star Jimmy Fallon, did.
