According to CBS Sports, he made the announcement Friday on his Facebook page about returning to his golf clubs to play the Quicken Loans National, which he hosts at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.

He reportedly said, “After a lot of therapy I have recovered well and will be supporting my foundation next week at the Quicken Loans National.”

The Washington Post reports that before he had surgery, it had been about three and a half months since he played competitively in the sport. His ranking as number one fell during this time and he also missed two major competitions.

Even though he only has been making full swings fairly recently, he seems to be confident in his ability to play.

The team for Woods reportedly said that if his doctors hadn’t cleared him to play, he wouldn’t have entered the tournament. Woods made his announcement within two hours before the deadline for making a commitment to playing in the event.

There have been only three times Woods has missed his tournament due to injuries, but his agent, Mark Steinberg, reportedly said Woods made sure to test his back the way he needed to in order to make sure he was ready.

Woods is reported to be extremely excited to be back in the game.
